As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have undergone changes. Difficulty: EE (expert hikers)
From Lake Tovel, take the long but pleasant dirt road no. 314 that leads to Malga Pozzol in a couple of hours. This section takes place mostly in the forest along the Tresenica Stream, then opens into meadows that foreshadow the approach to Malga Pozzol. After the hut, the dirt road becomes a trail (still marked 314) that climbs through the forest southwards, always with a pleasant ascent. After passing Turrion Basso among rock debris, take trail 301 to Passo Gaiarda, which you cross to descend quickly towards Malga Spora through rocks and dwarf pines. After Malga Spora, leave trail 301 to take no. 338, which follows for a very long stretch the tectonic alignment of Val dei Cavai. Sella di Montoz is the last obstacle before enjoying the descent into the meadows toward the junction with trail 369. Then another steep climb on 369 to cross Bocchetta di Val Scura and descend Val Scura with a steep slope. Leaving Cima Prà de l'Asen on the right, take trail 330 leading to Passo Termoncello, first through forest in one of the most pleasant parts of the entire Brenta group, then with inconvenient afternoon climbs to reach the pass. From the pass, it is all downhill through the Tovel forest until you reach the Rislà waterfall and then the cone that leads to the shores of Lake Tovel. The last part is a tourist stretch along the lakefront to reach the starting point.
If you are not very fit, it is advisable to split the route and bivouac at one of the support points. The Malga Spora shelter is about halfway (in July and August, the hut is managed and offers food and lodging service); the Malga Flavona bivouac requires a short detour from the route.
