Challenging 42 km loop due to the distance covered and some steep sections that reach an 18% gradient.

The loop starts in Cagnò and ascends the eastern side of the valley towards the north. Mostly secondary and panoramic roads are taken over canyons and the Brenta Dolomites where traffic is almost non-existent. The climb to the Forcella di Brez is definitely challenging but the descent through the characteristic farms of Lauregno in the province of Bolzano and the views of the Maddalene Group compensate for every effort.

    Author’s recommendation

The Viridis hotel in Cagnò is also an artisanal ice cream shop.

The small hairpin bends lighten the psychological effort in facing the various climbs.

    Roadbook

Being a loop, this route can be started from one of the villages touched by the route. In our description, Cagnò is taken as the starting point.

From Cagnò continue towards the nearby village of Revò before which on the left a junction with signs for Rumo / Val d'Ultimo is seen. This road after a short ramp runs on a false flat to Loc. Frari, at the border with South Tyrol. Here the climb begins to get steeper and shortly after you take the road on the right that steadily climbs to the village of Lauregno. The climb continues uphill through green meadows up to the Forcella di Brez at 1400 meters altitude.

Finally now the well-deserved descent to the main road below the village of Castelfondo. Here you climb up to the left towards Fondo. After Fondo proceed on a slight descent to Sarnonico where you then turn right towards the Golf Course and the small village of Dambel. The secondary road levels out to Casez and here you turn right downhill to reach Loc. San Biagio above the Novella canyon. The road is now steep but the quick hairpin bends lighten the climb and soon you find yourself in the center of the village of Revò. From here it takes a few minutes to reach Cagnò.
