Lago di Calaita – Cima Folga – Cima Grugola – Lago Pisorno
Mountain tour
Lago di Calaita – Cima Folga – Cima Grugola – Lago Pisorno
This hike is a loop that covers the western border of the Lagorai group, between Vanoi, Primiero, and Passo Rolle, and reaches two smaller peaks, Cima Folga and Cima Grugola.
This hike starts from the famous Lago di Calaita, a small lake located at the eastern corner of the Lagorai group. The first part of the hike develops into the woods. Once at the Malga Grugola, going up along the Grugola stream, the view opens up and the vegetation becomes less dense, allowing you to enter the magical landscape of the Lagorai. After Forcella Folga, the route is not perfectly signposted, but the terrain is not difficult and you can easily walk uphill on the grass toward Cima Folga. Once in Cima Folga, you will have the chance to see one of the most beautiful panoramic views over the Lagorai, with the possibility of a joint view of Vette Feltrine and Pale di San Martino. From the top the hike continues along the ridge (with some small technical climbs) until the nearby Cima Grugola, to then quickly descend to Forcella Grugola. On the way back toward Lago di Calaita, you can make a short detour to Lake Pisorno (just below the summit of Cima D'Arzon). Lake Pisorno, according to legend, is inhabited by spirits that will cause a storm every time someone throws stones at them in the lake; for this reason, no one has ever been able to tell what is inside the lake and its depth. The trek ends with the descent toward Lago di Calaita.
