One of the easiest ways to reach Lake Tovel on foot without having to book a car parking space.
Malga Tuena is a fantastic malga mountain hut located in the wildest heart of the Brenta Dolomites. From here, a trail quickly descends to Lake Tovel.

Malga Tuena is located facing the Dolomite walls of Val Madris and the peaks Sassara, Corno di Denno, and Pietra Grande which follow one after the other up to Passo Grostè which overlooks Madonna di Campiglio.
Author’s recommendation
For families, one idea could be that after visiting Lake Tovel, one adult walks back up to the Malga to get the car (2 hours walking) while another adult goes down with the children along the Glare Path to then meet all together at Località Capriolo!
Malga Tuena is also a refuge; those who want to do hikes in this corner of the Dolomites can stay overnight here!

From Tuenno by car, follow the signs for Lake Tovel. Upon arrival at Località Capriolo, you will find the first paid parking lots for those who want to go to Tovel. Right near the parking lot, turn right and take the forest road that goes up to Malga Tuena. It is a dirt road about 10 km long that is open to traffic during the months when the malga is open, from mid-June to mid-September.
Continue until you reach the sign prohibiting further passage just after a hairpin turn. Leave the car by the roadside and take the path that shows signs for Malga Tuena. This stretch has no steep slopes, and in some points, you can catch glimpses of the green of Lake Tovel in the valley below. In about 20 minutes, you reach Malga Tuena.
Cross the pasture below the malga and here take the SAT 309 path, which in 1 hour of walking descends to the shores of Lake Tovel.
The return is along the same path taken on the way out.
