<p>A very rewarding hike, ideal to take your time over a whole day, even with children. The itinerary includes some of the most spectacular spots in the Brenta Dolomites: the famous Lake Tovel and the spectacular Val Flavona and its malga mountain hut, the green pastures dotted here and there with prehistoric fossils.</p> <p>From Lake Tovel to Malga Pozzol, the majority of the trail follows the forest road along the valley of the Tresenica stream. From Malga Pozzol, the climb becomes steeper and you will quickly find yourself in the magnificent larch forest, and then in the vast meadows that open towards Malga Flavona.</p>

A very rewarding excursion, suitable to be done at a relaxed pace over an entire day, even with children. The route passes some of the most spectacular places in the Brenta Dolomites: the famous Lake Tovel and the spectacular Val Flavona with its hut, the green alpine pastures dotted in some places with prehistoric fossils.

From Lake Tovel to Malga Pozzol the route mainly follows a forest road along the valley of the Tresenica stream. From Malga Pozzol the ascent becomes steeper and shortly you find yourself in the magnificent larch forest and then in the vast meadows opening up towards Malga Flavona.

Roadbook

From Lake Tovel follow trail marker 314 (forest road) until the first large clearing where there is a wooden bridge over the stream. Just before the bridge, take trail 369 (small path) which after a few hundred meters is left to take a trail that climbs right towards the north. Soon the stream is reached again and then the dirt road to Malga Pozzol. At the hut take trail 371 which, after a rather steep forest section, opens up into one of the most fascinating environments in the Alpine range: high-altitude meadows surrounded on the east and west by rock cathedrals, leading to Malga Flavona along a comfortable mule track. The return is along trail 330 and then the magnificent trail 369 until the junction with 314, to follow the comfortable forest road back to Lake Tovel.

Public transport

A local train connects Trento to Cles in about 45 minutes. From Cles there are regular buses and in the summer also shuttle buses that take you to the parking lot by Lake Tovel.

Directions

Val di Tovel and Adamello Brenta Natural Park are reached from the village of Tuenno (located along provincial road no. 73) by taking provincial road no. 14 of Val di Tovel which runs alongside the Tresenga stream.

Parking

100 meters from Lake Tovel. In the summer period access to the lake is via shuttle bus service from Cles, from Tuenno, or from the parking area at “Capriolo”
