Cycling race, passing through Val di Fassa, which has thousands of cyclists ready to conquer, one after the other, the famous Dolomite passes of Costalunga, Pampeago, San Pellegrino and Valles
Effort, rhythm, amazement. On a bike, you conquer the altitude metre by metre, until your gaze opens up onto the Dolomites. It is a feeling that every cyclist knows well: the challenge with yourself and against the road. Sunday 31 May sees the start of the 18th edition of the Marcialonga Cycling Craft, with around 1,500 athletes from fifteen countries. There are two routes to choose from (even during the race): the long distance (135 km and 3,900 m of elevation gain) and the medium distance (80 km and 2,488 m of elevation gain). Whichever route you take, the challenge is guaranteed!
The course winds through the legendary Marcialonga valleys of January - Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa - with a spectacular passage through South Tyrol and Veneto, reaching the province of Belluno. At 8 a.m., from the square "SS. Filippo e Giacomo" in the town centre, cyclists will set off from Predazzo, the beating heart of the event, where the start, finish, and Expo Village are located. The route includes some of the most spectacular and demanding climbs in the Dolomites, tackling these famous mountain passes: Costalunga (maximum gradient 9.9%), Pampeago (maximum gradient 14.5%), San Pellegrino (maximum gradient 14%) and Valles (maximum gradient 16%). Among the participants, you’ll find elite athletes from Nordic skiing and running, already well-known competitors in the Marcialonga and Marcialonga Running races.
The Marcialonga Cycling Craft weekend isn't just for elite riders. On Saturday, 30 May, it’s the turn of young cyclists with Minicycling, a fun obstacle course race through the streets of Predazzo, designed to entertain the next generation of riders.
After the legendary cross-country skiing race in January, Cycling Craft is the second major Marcialonga event of the year. One of the most eagerly awaited events, part of the Alè Challenge, Nalini Road Series and Cycling Italia circuits, it brings cycling back to the iconic roads of the Dolomites.
