Hike to Rifugio Potzmauer - from Ponciach
From the hamlet of Ponciach to Rifugio Potzmauer: a pleasant and relaxing route on comfortable forest roads towards the refuge through the woods.
<p>The itinerary takes us up to Rifugio Potzmauer, nestled in a basin of meadows surrounded by fir woods. The refuge was once an alpine hut then abandoned with the disappearance of livestock farming in the valley. It was purchased and renovated by the Municipality of Grumes (now Municipality of Atavalle).</p> <p>Along the route, a stop should be made at the Torbiera del Lago di Valda, an ancient lake naturally aged and become the habitat for rare plant and animal species.</p> <p>The return can be done on the same path or with a circular route on the opposite side of the mountain, running along the steep side overlooking the Adige Valley.</p>
