Loop hike through the green meadows of Rumo and its hamlets to the border with South Tyrol. The hike is pleasant because of the many viewpoints over the valley and the churches of Corte Inferiore and Lanza, which are worth a visit. It is also recommended to reach the special South Tyrolean village of Proves.

From the center of Marcena, go up the main road and proceed in the direction of Lanza. From here you take the so-called "Giro del Lez" trail. On this picturesque path you proceed almost flat above the villages of Val di Rumo until the junction with the SAT 147 trail. You take it to the left and with a steep ascent reach the junction with path 12-14, which you follow to the left on a mostly flat cart track through green meadows with several viewpoints towards the Fresna Pass. Those who wish can walk from here to the South Tyrolean village of Proves in just 15 minutes, where a visit to the neo-Gothic church of St. Nicholas is recommended. From Fresna Pass one descends steeply to Lanza following the 2A signs. In the village of Lanza, a visit to the parish church of S. Vigilio, located in a panoramic position, is recommended. Finally, you follow the same route taken at the beginning of the hike to return to Marcena di Rumo.

    Author’s recommendation

Before the ascent on marker 147 and diverting downhill to the paved road, you can descend to the small village below, Corte Inferiore, where on a scenic hill stands the pretty little 15th-century church of S. Udalrico, which is worth visiting for the beautiful frescoes by the Baschenis brothers.

From the village of Rumo drive up to the hamlet of Lanza, proceed uphill to Maso Stasal and park your car before the prohibition sign. Continue uphill keeping to the right on a dirt road in the direction of Passo Fresna. You cross flat meadows with several viewpoints, and those who want to can walk from here in just 15 minutes to the South Tyrolean village of Proves, where a visit to the neo-Gothic church of St. Nicholas is recommended. From Loc. Fresna, take the SAT 147 trail on the left that bypasses Mount Faiden and leads to the Rio di Valle stream. Once at the Rio, take the SAT 113 forest trail downhill and after about an hour's walk take another forest trail on the left that then comes out on a paved road with trail marker no. 24. Keeping to the left and proceeding uphill you reach Maso Stasal near which there is a rest area equipped with water and fire point.

Those who want to lengthen the route once they arrive at Rio di Valle can go up along the dirt road with SAT 113 markings and reach the new and comfortable Maddalene Refuge in about 1:15 hours. Practicable with a baby carriage up to Passo Fresna.
