A touch of American charm is present in this route which mostly descends between the Lake Tovel parking and the Capriolo area. The path travels an initial stretch through a forest of firs and pines before opening onto the Glare scree, born from a large landslide detached from the overhanging cliffs, and ends beside a stream that gently flows down the valley. Driving up you pass through the Glare area but this does not allow you to fully appreciate the uniqueness of this part of the valley, better to enjoy a nice walk.

    Safety information

Route suitable for everyone but be careful during the hottest hours of summer days because in the Dosso delle Glare section the sun is very strong and there is no water.

The path is laid out on the left side of the large scree deposit in a place without vegetation.

In the central part, the route runs close to the road allowing a quick reach in case of necessity.

As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to current conditions and depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before setting out, check the status of the route by contacting the mountain hut managers on your route, mountain guides, natural park visitor centers, and tourist offices.

    Roadbook

It is recommended to leave the car at Capriolo (770m) and, using the shuttle bus provided by Adamello – Brenta Park, to go up to the parking near Lake Tovel (1176m). You can also choose to drive straight up to the parking and then return by bus (returning on foot along the road is not recommended).

Upon arriving at the parking, at the park's info point, you will find the information board outlining the characteristics of the path we will follow.

Continue northwest, towards the parking lot, at the first fork with a fountain descend to the right (green park sign indicating 'Giro delle Glare').

You reach the end of the road, where it begins to climb, and turn right (sign).

A first short stretch of ups and downs then steeply down along the beautiful path for Val di Tovel (steep stretch); at the end of the path you cross a small dirt road.

Reaching a picnic area near the asphalt road, turn left and continue on the path (sign).

At the fork for Malga Tuena, turn right downhill and again cross a dirt road then return to the path near the asphalt road of Val di Tovel.

The path in its central part runs parallel to the asphalt road, initially remaining on its left; then it passes to the right until the end of the path.

At around 1000 m, at the beginning of the scree section (Dosso delle Glare) there is a sign indicating a viewpoint. Leave the main path, cross the road and climb the opposite slope (10') to reach a clearing with information boards and a wider view of the large landslide.

Back on the main path continue downhill staying close but sufficiently away from the asphalt road so as not to be disturbed.

The path winds among the rocks and uses patches with vegetation to descend to the ephemeral ponds, two pools of water at the base of the huge scree deposit, and from there, more flat, allows you to reach the tamburello court.

Pass to the right of the court and with a last stretch close to the stream, passing through a characteristic pool of water, arrive at Capriolo (770m).

    Directions

Reach the village of Tuenno in Val di Non, on the right side of the valley. On the south-west side of the village there are signs for Lake Tovel. From here the road begins to climb up Val di Tovel for 11 km. Access to the valley is free during the low season. From the end of June until the end of August, traffic management is handled by the Adamello – Brenta Park Authority. During this period, in Capriolo (about halfway up the valley), there is a traffic barrier regulated as follows: 1) before 09:00 and after 18:00 it is possible to freely access the lake parking. 2) From 09:00 to 10:30 you pay for parking and can drive up to the lake. 3) From 10:30 to 18:00 car access to the lake is prohibited and you have to leave your car in the Capriolo parking lot to use the shuttle bus service. Walking to the lake starting from Capriolo is not recommended due to the length of about 5 km.
