Walk Biotope The reed bed of Levico
The Canneto di Levico biotope is a bend of Lake Levico, along the southern shores, with a water reed bed, reed thickets, wet meadows, and a patch of alder swamp forest, of great interest due to its rarity throughout Trentino.

Canneto di Levico

The Biotope constitutes a true oasis for wild animals, where a large number of species are present. Particularly interesting is the fauna typical of the reed bed and the marshy hinterland, as it includes elements that have become rare in Trentino due to the progressive destruction of wet environments. Among these, for example, are the green frog and water snakes. Various water birds nest in the dense reed bed, including the great crested grebe, the mallard, the coot, and the moorhen, as well as some elusive but "noisy" songbirds such as the reed warbler and the great reed warbler. Furthermore, the valuable role of the Biotope as a resting, refuge, and feeding area for water birds during migrations should not be forgotten.
