Val di Fassa Running - 5th stage
The fifth and final stage of Val di Fassa Running is the traditional Dolomite uphill stage, a pure climb from Passo San Pellegrino to the summit of Col Margherita
Val di Fassa Running returns to the 2026 sporting calendar with its well-established stage race format, organised by Val di Fassa Grandi Eventi: five stages, each between 6 and 12 km long, a different location every day, for a total of around 45 km of fast sections, runnable descents and climbs that test both legs and determination. From 21 to 26 June, runners take on spectacular courses that cross some of the most iconic landscapes of the valley.
The race week concludes with the traditional Dolomite mountain stage, a pure uphill challenge that puts runners' strength and endurance to the test. This year the final stage climbs from Passo San Pellegrino to the summit of Col Margherita. The course is 6.7 km long but packs in 734 metres of elevation gain. It starts near the valley station and climbs up the red ski run Le Caviette, then reaches Lake Cavia, crosses the dam and continues up the opposite slope before joining the first section of La VolatA, which leads runners to the finish at the top of Col Margherita. It's an intense and spectacular ascent, made even more iconic by the fact that this very slope hosted three days of Alpine Ski World Cup races in March. Walkers also have a dedicated route, slightly different but still demanding: from Passo San Pellegrino to Col Margherita along the ski slope, with no shortcuts, covering 3.9 km and 640 metres of elevation gain.
If you can't join the entire week of racing, you can choose your own challenge and take part in a single stage, registering directly at the start.
