Medieval castles and birdwatching along river Adige
<p>Start from <strong>Rovereto</strong>, after a visit to <a href="https://www.visitrovereto.it/scopri/musei/mart-rovereto/">Mart Museum</a>, and take the cycle lane in Borgo Sacco near the Tower of the Town Hall in Filzi Square where you will also find the Agency of Tourism <a href="https://www.visitrovereto.it/en/enjoy/outdoor/bike/bike-and-tourist-information/">Infopoint</a> to ask for information, maps and also book hotels and restaurants. </p> <p>Here a little fountain made of stone invites you to fill your bottles with the pure and fresh water of Spino aqueduct. </p> <p>Proceed through the <strong>vineyards of Vallagarina</strong> and discover the numerous wineries and farms along the road where you will have the opportunity to taste delicious local products. </p> <p>From the valley floor children will amuse themselves by spotting in the landscape the walls and towers of the castles of Predaglia, Corno, Noarna, Castelbarco in Destra Adige, Castel Pietra and Castel Beseno. </p> <p>Arrived in Calliano you can take a break at <a href="https://regio.outdooractive.com/oar-rovereto-trentino/en/tour/hiking-trail/taio-di-nomi/13834681/">Biotopo del Taio</a>, a birdwatching location perfect to see exotic birds. Here it is also possible to discover <a href="https://www.visitrovereto.it/en/discover/castles/castel-pietra/">Castel Pietra</a>, epicentre of the Battle of Calliano (1487). In its background the majestic Castel Beseno, the greatest medieval fortress in Trentino reachable by foot. </p> <p>On the way back on the other side of the river you can stop and enjoy a meal or a beverage at Nomi Bicigrill, a popular place among cyclists.</p> <p>The path is entirely flat and paved, vehicles other that bicycles are not allowed to transit.</p> <p> </p>
