The walk down to the Eremo di San Gallo is easy and little frequented. It starts just below the village of Cagnò in Val di Non and follows a comfortable path that skirts the Santa Giustina lake and offers an unexpected and wild perspective on this large body of water: there are indeed benches to enjoy the scenery!
It takes about an hour for the round trip and the elevation gain is very modest, about 90 meters.
The route begins among the apple orchards and then takes a beautiful path along which there are many viewpoints and benches to enjoy the sun and the lake breeze.
Author’s recommendation
The best time for the view of the lake is late spring and early summer, when the waters of this artificial lake reach their maximum level.

As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, check the condition of the path by contacting the manager of the shelters on your route, alpine guides, the visitor centers of natural parks, and tourist offices.

Roadbook
Park your car at the parking lot near the Terrazza dei Sapori in Cagnò, where there is a junction between the road coming from Cles crossing the Santa Giustina lake and the road connecting Mostizzolo to Cagnò.
Continue on foot downhill for about twenty meters towards the lake and in front of the Terrazza dei Sapori you will notice a paved path with a sign that says Eremo di San Gallo. Take this downhill path and cross apple orchards. Continue further until you find wooden signage pointing to the right. Here begins the beautiful path with a wooden fence descending towards the ruins of the Eremo di San Gallo.
Along the route there are plenty of tables and benches and a small detour leads to a lovely viewpoint on a rocky spur where you can enjoy the cool lake breeze. Walking for another 10 minutes you reach the hermitage where today only ruins remain under the large natural rock roof that had been chosen as a hermitage site.
The return is by the same route.
