Along the Moscato Giallo wine route
Itinerary among the vineyards and castles of Vallagarina.
The itinerary starts from the Adige cycle path in Besenello and crosses the ancient village up to Castel Beseno. Then, it descends through the countryside renowned for its Moscato Giallo grapes. Near Nomi, the route reconnects to the Garda cycle path.
Moscato giallo is an international grape variety, indigenous to the Italian territory. In Vallagarina he found his home between the municipalities of Calliano and Besenello just at the feet of the majestic Castel Beseno, an area characterized by a thin, rather gravelly soil. It is identified by vinification in two variants: dry yellow Moscato and Moscato Beseno Superiore. The first derives from a dry white vinification, has a straw yellow color and to the nose and palate it releases notes reminiscent of elderflower and grapefruit. The second has a rather deep yellow color, due to the drying and interruption of fermentation techniques. In tasting, hints of ripe fruit such as apricots, dates and pineapple prevail.
