Trail of the "Teragnòle"

The ancient path of the women of Terragnolo

<p>The hike invites you to discover some trails which once connected the valley Terragnolo with the city of Rovereto. This route was daily travelled by the women of the valley during the 19th and 20th in order to reach the city and sell mountain products in the squares.</p> <p>The starting point is in Rovereto . From via dell'Acquedotto climb the ancient road, which was expanded toward Noriglio in 1701, by Prince Eugene of Savoy. Once you get to the town, go past the church dedicated to San Martino and follow the signs for percorso F2, which leads to the community of Beccachè and beyond. Along this stretch the country road crosses the locality of “Le Carote”, which was listed on ancient topographical maps as La Rota and then mysteriously disappeared, and then continues until reaching the provincial road SP2. Once across that road, near the agritur Masi Brenta follow the ancient road until you come upon the paved road which the leads to the village of Perini. The path, along this stretch, the road is dug from the rock and offers panoramic glimpses of wild beauty; continuing on, you will go through Perini and pick up the trail at Valgrande, where you have to go back down to the SP 2 for a short segment and then pick the trail back up near the dilapidated house (which is undergoing a restoration) on the left side of the road. From here you will shortly reach Valduga where, at the end of the road you can take the sentiero della Cesura which descends in to the valley – passing the impending washouts on the torrent’s gravel bed – until the village of Fontanelle. From Fontanelle proceed to the San Nicolò turn and gorge dug by the Leno di Terragnolo. Once past the town, with a short detour, you can reach the small church of Sant’Antonio and then come upon the trail which climbs from the gorge to Noriglio.  Finally, walk down to Rovereto along the same trail as the first leg.</p>
