Ascent to Tremalzo on a hairpinned asphalt road. Adrenaline-filled descent on dirt roads and paths to Tiarno di Sopra. </p>
The Tremalzo area stands out for its incredible biodiversity and the extraordinary concentration of endemic species, botanical rarities which can’t be found anywhere else in the world! Each year, in autumn and spring, migratory birds en route for Africa or on their back to Europe fly over Tremalzo. At the bird ringing station in Casèt, these birds get caught in nets and marked with a ring in order to monitor their migratory habits.

An adrenaline-infused and challenging descent that repays the exertions of the ascent to Tremalzo.

The first part, between Rifugio Garibaldi and Bocca Caset, unfolds on a relatively even forest road, whereas the descent proper happens in the second half of this route, as the trail gets narrower and the surface more uneven.
Author’s recommendation
Every year from August to October migratory bird en route to Africa fly over Bocca Caset. In this period the scientists from Muse – Museum of natural science – are at work day and night to study this incredible phenomenon and organize workshops and activities for curious passers-by.

The route is a variant of the 779. Tremalzo Big Tour that allows you to shorten the tour considerably.
Along the Tremalzo provincial road, near the Garibaldi refuge, we take the Caset forest road. When we reach the beginning of the road, we come to a fork and take the path to the left, which first leads to Malga Caset and then to Cima Rinalt. We follow this path down to the valley near Tiarno.
From here we can follow the cycle/pedestrian path to return to Pieve di Ledro and reach the lake.

Equipment
Riding your bike requires specific clothing and equipment, even for relatively short and easy trips. It is always better to be prepared… e.g. for bad weather or a sudden drop in your energy levels. The unexpected things are part of the fun!
Remember to thoroughly evaluate the type of route you plan on doing, the locations you intend to cross and the current season. Has it been raining? Attention: The paths may be slippery and require more caution.
What do I need to bring on my bike tour?
- An adequate water supply according to your needs (considering temperature, possibility of refuelling and duration of the route)
- Plenty of snacks (for example, dried fruit or energy bars)
- Waterproof / Windproof jacket
- A spare top / spare socks (Descending in a sweaty garment, will make you cold).
