As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before setting off, check the status of the route by contacting the managers of the mountain huts along your path, alpine guides, the visitor centers of natural parks, and tourist offices.Roadbook
Coming from the south, the cycle path starts from the village of Malgolo (a hamlet of Romeno), where there is a convenient park-and-ride lot to leave your car and continue riding your bike.
Along the urban provincial road with mixed traffic, you reach the first section of the new cycle path running alongside state road SS43, retracing the old railway line that once ran from Dermulo to Fondo.
With a gentle and steady climb, you reach the meadows below Romeno and a wooden bridge that crosses over the state road, serving as a connecting link for the cycle path loop.
Continuing on the right, you pass through a shaded forest area and emerge into the small and sunny hamlet of Salter. The cycle path crosses the village and follows urban and farm roads to reach the nearby village of Romeno. Here the route leads to the characteristic church of St. Anthony, worth a stop to admire the beautiful fresco cycle dedicated to the “Legend of the Hanged Man.”
The path then continues through apple orchards, reaching the fields at the entrance of Cavareno. From here, thanks to an extension of the cycle path, it's possible to reach the centers of Amblar and Don, where two additional small loops begin on dirt roads and are technically more challenging.
Continuing along the official route, you cross a series of meadows until you reach the “Tennis Halle” sports center in Cavareno and the village’s historic center. Leaving Cavareno, you once again find yourself immersed in greenery as you pass through the villages of Sarnonico, Ronzone, and Malosco. From Malosco, the route descends briefly and steeply to the nearby village of Fondo, famous for its canyon rock trails.
Now begins one of the most characteristic sections of the itinerary, the lush green landscape of the Pradiei area, a beautiful unspoiled expanse where, among other things, the “Dolomiti Golf Club” is located, one of the most popular golf courses in Trentino, as well as the brand new Bicigrill. The cycle path now continues mostly flat through meadows until returning to Romeno and the already mentioned bridge over the state road that closes the entire loop. After crossing the bridge, you descend to the nearby center of Malgolo where you return to the park-and-ride lot.
