The most adrenaline-pumping Tibetan bridges in Trentino
From Val di Rabbi to the woods of Paneveggio: 3...suspension bridges
Here it is, in front of you! Suspended in the air, tens of metres high, surrounded by nature: it is the Tibetan bridge. Let’s take a leap in time and space to understand its name. More precisely, in the Himalayas, in 1400 when, as legend has it, a Tibetan monk had almost sixty bridges built between Tibet and Bhutan, to connect difficult passages among peaks.
To feel the adrenaline of crossing a suspension bridge, however, you don’t need to go to the Far East, since there are three Tibetan bridges in Trentino. They are walkways surrounded by woods, suspended in mid-air over waterfalls and streams. They are held by 3 intertwining steel cables: 2 for the hands and 1 for the feet. A structure that, by balancing the tension load among the cables, allows reducing the bridge oscillation.
Steel beams have been installed on the cables for the feet to facilitate the crossing while the side protections are very high, to ensure a safe transit. Indeed, crossing the Tibetan bridges in Trentino is not technically challenging, and that is why they are accessible even to the youngest hikers... as long as they do not suffer from vertigo!
