Along the old road over Passo Lusia, which brought the pioneers of tourism in the Dolomites from Bolzano to San Martino di Castrozza, you enter the Rifugio La Rezila. You’ll find the fire lit, even in summer, at least on the coldest days, and you’ll get to know the warden, Angel de La Rezila, who honours his family tradition (and that of all wardens) by giving advice and telling mountain stories. A picturesque little refuge, filled with old objects, where you can sample good Ladin food and take a rest on a deck chair. Built over a hundred years ago out of an old mountain chalet, this refuge was used by the Austrian army as a military hospital during the Great War. Open From 20 June to 20 September Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks It’s a short walk along a forest track up to Passo Lusia from where you can get to the little Lusia lakes and the Sandro Redolf bivouac hut (1 hour 20 minutes, difficulty E). From there you can then climb Cima Bocche (1 hour 20 minutes, difficulty E) or set out on the Gronton via ferrata (2 hours, difficulty E) which follows old communciation trenches dug out during the Great War by the Austro -Hungarian army.
