Spending your holidays on horseback is an alternative way to enjoy the beauty of nature. The pristine landscape of this valley - which has been selected as the setting "Nature on Horseback - Trento" for the unique geological conformation of its peaks - is the ideal place for equestrian tourism lovers.
The East Trentino Horseback Trail is a route reserved for horse lovers, which features over 430 km and 16 stops, and has been practicable in its full length since Spring 2008. Stretching mainly over the areas of the Lagorai mountain chain, the trail extends from Monte Panarotta to Rolle Pass, and offers alternative tours, which are among the most spectacular in the entire Primiero and Vanoi areas of the Dolomites.
The Primiero segment winds through the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park, cutting across the splendid Val Canali, crossing San Martino di Castrozza and going along the most beautiful Lake Calaita.
Riders can rely on a good network of facilities such as horse riding centres, hotels, bed & breakfasts, mountain-huts and Alpine mountain-houses, all especially equipped for the Horseback Trail. They guarantee high-quality services and direct assistance for horses and riders. Every stop features stalls reserved for the Horseback Trail users.
The Primiero and Vanoi stops include Canal S. Bovo - Transacqua: 17.08 km; Transacqua - San Martino di Castrozza - Canal S. Bovo: 46.45 km.
