27 - Monte Maggio
Mount Maggio summit of Italy. Here, at an altitude of 1853 m, the Austro-Italian national border passed until 1918. The peak overlooks the Veneto-Vicentine valleys and the wide plain stretching to Venice. A large cross on the summit commemorates the many Italian and Austrian casualties of the Great War.
There are several reasons why we may want to climb to the summit of Mount Maggio. Firstly, the beauty of the places, the vastness of the views, the signs of history. It is one of the most beautiful and easiest alpine excursions on the Alpe Cimbra, offering thrilling views of the upper Val di Terragnolo and the Pasubio massif. On particularly clear days, the reflection of the sun on the Venice lagoon can be seen from the top of the mountain.
