Al Becco di Filadonna and the bivouac of the Madonnina
An itinerary of great charm, suitable for expert hikers, which allows you to appreciate the Vigolana in its most spectacular aspects between carbonate pinnacles and breathtaking views of the Vigolana Plateau and the Alta Valsugana.
The itinerary is challenging, and suitable for expert hikers, both for the considerable height difference to be overcome (1375 m), and for the length, about 8 hours for the entire route in a.r., and because there are some short equipped sections that require some attention to overcoming them. The “Becco di Filadonna” with its 2150 m s.l.m. is the highest peak in the Vigolana massif. The spire of the Frate and the rocky pinnacle of the Madonnina are two spectacular morphosculptures located on the north-eastern slope and in their vicinity stands, on a rocky outcrop overlooking Vigolo Vattaro and Lake Caldonazzo, a fundamental shelter for recently restored mountaineers: the bivacco Vigolana at the "Madonnina" (1990 m asl). From the Bivacco you can enjoy an aerial view over three very different territories: the Vigolana Plateau and the Marzola, the Valsugana and the Val d’Adige with the city of Trento. A place of peace and reflection in which it is also possible to spend the night in a self-managed mode and practice a thrilling climb on the magnificent spire of the Madonnina. The Beak of a woman and the bivouac can be reached with the SAT E442 path which is also the access path to the Rifugio Casarota, the main stopping point of the route with a panoramic view of the high Centa valley and the Lavarone plateau. After the hut and reached the summit ridge, the itinerary continues with an interesting and panoramic crossing, along the SAT path signpost E425 up to the bivouac. The crossing offers an overall view of the karst area of the southern slope of the Vigolana: a grandiose amphitheater gently sloping southwards, with a breathtaking view over the Adige valley. The most evident karst morphologies consist of vertical karstic wells that testify to the presence of hypogean karst phenomena (caves). One of the most visible is the “Bus della Caldera” about 400 meters north of the “Castellazzo” and among others we can mention the “Bus del Giaz", “the Bus del Bech”, the “Abisso Bosentino” and above all the “Grotta Gabrielli", one of the most remarkable in Trentino .
