Safety information
A short section to reach Cima Vedetta Alta is slightly exposed, and here there is a metal cable to assist in progression.
As you can imagine, the accessibility of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before setting out, check the status of the route by contacting the refuge managers on your path, alpine guides, visitor centers of natural parks, and tourist offices.
Roadbook
By car, reach the parking lot on the right after the first short tunnel on the road connecting Val di Non to Val d'Ultimo. Cross the road and take the forest road that quickly leads to Malga di Cloz. Here, take trail marker no. 7 which climbs the meadows behind the hut to reach Malghetto di Cloz. Then ascend another 150 meters of elevation to reach the saddle connecting Cima Belmonte to Monte Cornicoletto, where you turn right to reach Corniccoletto (La Vecla in dialect).
Return along your steps to the saddle and here follow the track (without SAT trail markers) along the grassy ridge which then rises on rocky terrain up to the cross of Cima Belmonte. After enjoying the view and leaving a message in the summit register, continue along the ridge following trail marker 22 which stays at altitude and heads towards the summit Vedetta Alta. Just below the summit the path becomes steeper and some sections are slightly exposed and equipped with a safety cable to use as a handrail. The summit is often frequented by those ascending from Val d'Ultimo and, at 2624 m, it is the second highest peak of the Maddalene group after Cima degli Olmi.
The rather long descent follows trail 11 down to Malga Kessel. From here continue on a dirt road first and then on a path until reaching the huts of Revò and Cloz, from where in a few minutes you return to the parking lot where you left the car.
All the huts encountered during the descent are managed and make excellent resting points.
Directions
From Val di Non, follow the signs for Val d'Ultimo. Before the tunnels that separate the two valleys, it is possible to leave the car in the large parking lot.Parking
