Daone
One of the oldest villages of the Giudicarie valleys, Daone is located in a sheltered area abounding in chestnut trees at the mouth of the valley bearing its name that leads to Val di Fumo, where the River Chiese springs from Adamello. The highly evocative area is wild and impenetrable with Alpine summer pastures and large water basins.
In the winter it is possible to practise ice climbing (every year events and international championships are organized here), while in the summer you may enjoy tours within the Adamello Brenta Nature Reserve.
The church of San Bartolomeo, dating back to the year 1000, is worth visiting: it features a portico used for community meetings during the 14th century.
On the Municipality square a huge silver fir trunk (Avèz de Boaz) is exhibited - it had been fetched to the Valle Daone valley from the Malga Boazzo plain in 1955.
