Storo
The ancient town districts are characterized by typical traits, such as mural paintings, courtyards and long balconies intersecting picturesque cobbled street, halls and squares with granite fountains. Take time to visit the church of St. Florian, built in 1199, with its antique organ and gorgeous paintings by Romanino. Worth visiting is also St. Lawrence church, dating back to the fifteenth century, with frescoes by the Baschenis family. Not far away you will find the waterfalls of Fontana Bianca and Fontana Santa.
Darzo offers an array of sport activities, with its soccer fields, tennis and bocce courts. Enjoy pleasant walks along the panoramic paths leading through the coniferous forests of Dos Rotond to the mountain pastures of Plaz, Spina, Valdoneda, Casina Vecia and Mount Tonolo.
In the hamlet of Lodron, there is still evidence of the presence of the Lodron Counts, who lived and ruled over this valley for centuries in the Middle Ages. Don’t miss a chance to visit Palazzo Caffaro, with its adjoining Conventino, lying close to the Caffaro stream, and Palazzo Bavaria, in the countryside. Riccomassimo is a tiny group of houses, immersed in peaceful surroundings near Trentino’s borders.
Storo is now famous for the Valle del Chiese corn, from which cornmeal is produced, by slowly grinding its seeds in order to preserve its nutrients and aroma, offering the opportunity to taste the real polenta.
