Ronzo Chienis
Ronzo Chienis in Val di Gresta, the kingdom of organic agriculture
More than a valley, it looks like a vast terraced amphitheatre that hosts the now famous crops of organic and natural products.
The valley's orography and the beneficial influence of the climate have favoured this land's agricultural vocation, making it the first in Northern Italy to introduce the philosophy and techniques of organic farming. Val di Gresta farmers utilize state of the art natural cultivation methods for growing vegetables, such as cabbages, celery, beets, carrots, potatoes, leeks, onions and savoy.
The local populations' way of life and hospitality have benefited also. Small hotels, bed & breakfasts, houses and holiday apartments are the well-integrated accommodation offered by this valley community. Hospitality extends to the cuisine that is based on local produce cooked following simple recipes capable of exalting the genuineness of the flavours. A holiday in Gresta can be splendidly enriched by pleasant walks through the centuries-old fir forests of Bordala, by climbs to Monte Stivo, visits to the ancient stone towns or to the ruins of Gresta Castle, including visits to Rovereto or an excursion to nearby Lake Garda.
