Torbole sul Garda - Nago
Ideal destination for windsurfing and sailing
A gateway to the great holiday lake, Nago and Torbole offer marvellous views of Lake Garda.
Nestled at the foot of the twelfth century Castel Penede, Nago is an awesome access point to lago di Garda. Worth visiting are the so-called Marmitte dei Giganti, remarkable glacial potholes, and the Forte, a building consisting of two distinct fortresses now converted into a restaurant and exhibition hall.
Torbole used to be a fishing village, but is now an internationally famous sailing and windsurfing site. Despite the dramatic growth of tourism and sport, Torbole and Nago have succeeded in preserving their typical traits and the ancient magnificence of their buildings and the amphitheater on north side of Lake Garda.
The famous German writer Goethe wrote of Torbole and described it as a natural wonders of the world.
Particularly beloved by artists and writers, who found inspiration in its lovely surroundings, Torbole still offers pleasant views, such as Austro-Hungarian Casetta del Dazio and Casa Beust, a meeting-place for artists in the post-war period.
