Telve
A protected natural environment awaiting respectful discovery
Telve is located in a sunny, panoramic position at the foot of Monte Salubio, in the northern part of the Eastern Valsugana area.
The town's historical city centre features a unique urban structure organised into districts called "cormèi". They feature leaning houses built around an open space, usually a courtyard (in the past it was alternated with vegetable gardens and haylofts, small squares or alleyways).
Tiny isolated hamlets or masi are to be found scattered throughout the rest of the land. The mountainous region of Telve is covered in woods, Alpine meadows and rocky peaks and is comprised of two areas of great environmental worth: the Musiera plateau at the foot of Monte Salubio, with its recreational fishing lake along with its Oasi di Valtrigona - the only WWF oasis in the entire Alpine mountain range - and the Val Calamento, next to the Maso River, one of the most beautiful and untouched valleys of the Trentino region. Travellers can follow the valley to reach the Manghen Pass - the only pass connecting the Valsugana and the Val di Fiemme through the Lagorai - which is a much-beloved route amongst cyclists.
Special mention goes to the Church of the Assunta, the church decorated by Francesco Chiletto and the Church of Santa Giustina, with its frescoes harking back to the late Gothic Age.
