Road bike tour of Campiglio and Comano
Only the fittest cyclists should take on this tour. It features no fewer than three of Trentino’s legendary climbs (Passo Durone in the Comano area, Passo Daone and Madonna di Campiglio) and will take you as far as the Passo Campo Carlo Magno.
The tour starts in the town of Pinzolo in the heart of the Val Rendena and it follows the Sarca stream as far as Comano Terme. That is where you will embark on the first climb of the day: the Passo Durone, which has an average gradient of 6% and should be fairly easy going. Once you reach the top, you will descend to Bolbeno and then head to Preore, which is the starting point for the second climb: the Passo Daone. It is much more demanding than the first, with an average gradient of 9.4% and a length of over 8 km. After you have conquered the Passo Daone, you will go through Spiazzo Rendena and climb steadily as far as Pinzolo. It will then be time for the third legendary climb: Madonna di Campiglio. Although the average gradient is just 5.7%, it is more than 15 km long and the fact that you will already have climbed more than 2,000 m at this stage will only make it tougher. The ascent ends at the highest point on the tour: the Passo Campo Carlo Magno. From there, you will turn around and go back down the same way you came up, until you find yourself back at the starting point in Pinzolo.
