Tour of Monte Gorsa

From the mirror of Lake Lases to the historic center of Albiano: a circular excursion around Monte Gorsa, among chestnut trees, mixed woods and wide panoramic views

Our route starts from the parking lot located near Lake Lases, a mirror of water of great charm, particularly appreciated by fishermen and diving enthusiasts for its clear waters. From here we take a dirt road that soon begins to climb following a series of hairpin bends to get up quickly, crossing an area that once housed a porphyry quarry, now abandoned. We continue to climb, entering the woods, and take the SAT E474 path that climbs to Monte Gorsa. The view opens onto a landscape that recounts the centuries-old interaction between man and nature: from the waters of Lake Lases to the disused porphyry quarries, from the woods and cultivated fields to small inhabited centers. We continue our journey at high altitude towards Pian del Gacc (Fornace), and then descend towards Albiano. We recommend staying for a visit in the historic center of the village of Albiano, among its narrow streets and historic houses, to visit the new chestnut grove on the edge of the village and the Casa Porfido Museum: a place that leads us to learn about the history of a stone that made this country famous and that covers streets and squares all over the world: from New York to Sydney, from the United Arab Emirates to Japan (we recommend that you check the opening hours of the museum).

We then resume our journey that will take us back to Lake Lases, following the ancient connection road between Albiano and Lases.
