Percorso della trementina - The Path of Turpentine

The short route starts in  Dimaro. From the village (770 m) the path climbs up to the larch forest in Bedoleti (840 m). The trail is marked by tables of wood in the shape of an arrow, indicating the direction. Seven information panels accompany the visitors along the way.

The work of extraction of turpentine from larch trees has its origins far back in time. In places where these impressive conifers grow, the collection of the precious resin has always been practised. This business has developed more in Val di Sole than in other valleys of Trentino, because of the vast larch trees forests in the area, and over the centuries this activity has played an important economic role.

Today, resin harvesting is still practiced by the last turpentiners in Val di Sole, although it is destined, like many other "old jobs" to disappear. However, before this happens, we can walk through these beautiful larches, going back with the memory to the days when the forest was an important source of livelihood for the families who lived on these mountains.
