Vanoi Ecomuseum

The Ecomuseo del Vanoi is a sprawling museum with many open-air sites to visit, stretching into the territory of Caoria and Valle del Vanoi.

The Ecomuseum allows visitors to explore 7 key topics through a variety of routes and sites: water, specifically mills and the transport of timber by floating it along waterways; wood, a major resource in Valle del Vanoi; stone, thanks to ancient mines, lime kilns and dry stone walls; sacred sites in the form of churches, chapels and frescoes; the war, with the Museo della Grande Guerra (Great War Museum) in Caoria and the mountain trenches; grass, grown in meadows and made into hay; and mobility, i.e. movements of people within the valley and migration patterns.
