755. Drena and the chestnuts (Cross Country)
A short loop suitable for everyone, which leads you to discover the rural areas on the left side of the Sarca valley.
A tour of around 8 kilometres between the quiet valley of Cavedine and the chestnut groves towards Braila. With just over 300 meters altitude gain and no technical difficulty, the route is accessible to everyone. It can also be considered as a complement to the route 756. Both of these itineraries have the same starting point. However, from the locality of Luch the 755 diverges in the opposite direction.

This circuit is just over 8 km long but still has a lot to offer. It takes you right around the village of Drena, through the chestnut groves it is known for, and to an unusual open-air gallery. This mountain bike route is not especially challenging from a technical point of view and much of it is on tarmacked paths. On the way back to Drena from the open air gallery, you can enjoy some stunning views down into the Sarca Valley and finally, of course, of the beautifully situated Drena Castle, which you can also visit.

The route starts near to Drena castle, in the nearby car park. Initially you will not find the route directions (number 755). First, take the provincial road towards the beautiful village of Drena, leaving the castle behind you. After about 400 meters, cross the road to take the initially steep - Via Rovereto on your left. Follow this quiet internal lane, which leads you to proceed parallel to the provincial road below. After crossing the locality of Naroncol you will again meet the provincial road. Cross this, and after a few hundred metres, turn right - dropping down into Luch. Here you will discover the route signs for Malga Campo - follow them along this secondary road until you reach a crossroads with a religious shrine. Turn right here and follow the signage for "La Casina" restaurant. Continue along this road to pass the restaurant, where shortly after you must take the forest road on the right. Immersed in the ancient chestnut trees, follow the forest road up to reach an asphalt road near to Braila. At this juncture - if you pay close attention, the woods are scattered with interesting sculptures which form an open-air gallery. Turn right here onto the asphalt road, following it until you see Drena Castle. Descend into the village once again, along via Giovanni Segantini, continuing straight to return to your original starting point.

Equipment
Riding your bike requires specific clothing and equipment, even for relatively short and easy trips. It is always better to be prepared… e.g. for bad weather or a sudden drop in your energy levels. The unexpected things are part of the fun!
