761. Velo - Maso Naranch (Enduro/All Mountain)
A physically challenging route with spectacular scenery, perfect for those looking for downhill runs on natural technical trails. Good steering technique and confidence on steep downhill runs is essential.

This tour can generally be done from April to November, with its 1500 m of elevation gain over a total of around 37 km which makes it quite demanding, physically speaking. But it is not a trail you want to underestimate in technical terms either, and actually, this is probably the aspect you need to consider most carefully. One stretch of the downhill run is along the Naranch Trail, a trail which has been popular for some years now with gravity lovers in the area.

Since it was opened, there have been a series of extreme weather events which have made considerable modifications to the initial condition of the trail. Apart from the fact that it is so steep, the surface has been washed away to expose a lot of roots and rocks. The signposting has gone missing at various intersections on a number of occasions, so just to be sure, a gps device could prove useful.

This is a variant of 760. Monte Velo Trail-Tour starting at Passo Santa Barbara.
At Passo Santa Barbara we take take the narrow asphalt road on the opposite side of the main road from the fountain. At the fork we turn left and continue on asphalt among meadows and fields in the direction of Monte Creino. We then follow the signposts and leave the asphalt road to turn into a trail on the left, which leads through the woods on the slopes of Monte Creino and comes to the forest road. We then continue downhill for 300 m and turn right towards Maso Naranch, with its wonderful view over Lake Garda.
At the end of the meadow overlooking the lake you will find signposting for the route once more and now you head on down the trail. There are a number of turnoffs in the woods, all signposted. As you ride down the different stretches of trail you will cross the paved road for Nago several times. Always take care as you come out onto the road. It isn’t a very busy road, but you could come across other vehicles or bikes heading downhill. In this section of the trail too you will find some stretches are quite treacherous. In the vicinity of the village of San Tomè the trail is interrupted and now you have only to follow the steep paved road as far as Nago. When you come to the traffic lights at the intersection with the main road which leads down to Torbole and Arco, go straight through and head towards the right.
