San Martino di Castrozza - Passo Rolle
The historic charm of San Martino di Castrozza and Passo Rolle, set against the unmatchable natural backdrop of the Pale di San Martino Group, is complemented by the picturesque villages of the Primiero and Vanoi valleys
Located in the southern section of the large Dolomiti Superski district, this ski area boasts over 60 km of slopes for Alpine skiing, toboggan runs, 30 km of cross-country skiing tracks and an equal number of nature fitness trails in breathtaking natural surroundings which, for over thirty years now, have been under the protection of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Nature Park.
45 km of pistes stretching across slopes of varying aspects, guaranteeing excellent conditions in terms of snow and sunshine from early morning to late afternoon.
Taken together, the different trails make up an interesting and enjoyable network of slopes: from the challenging Direttissima, Tognola Uno and Kristiania slopes to the many red runs; and from the most scenic pistes to ski camps for learners. For little ones, there are three well-equipped kids’ clubs: Tognola, Prà delle Nasse, and the Cereda Natural Park.
The Passo Rolle is located 9 km from San Martino di Castrozza, sitting at an altitude of 2,000 metres in the Italian Alps with the Cimon della Pala and Cima Vezzana peaks looming overhead. This ski area offers 15 km of slopes — 5 km easy, 7 km intermediate and 3 km difficult — approved for international races, with artificial snow-making plus 5 cable lifts, including a moving walkway to make it easier to start skiing. Meanwhile, for fun with snowboards try the Rolle Railz Park, which also offers special areas for sledding and the option to hire equipment.
In Primiero, the Passo Cereda is the site of an ideal ski camp for those who wish to learn to ski, particularly for children. The broad piste is served by a draglift, and is the perfect solution for families with small children. From Primiero, it takes only a short time to reach the slopes of San Martino di Castrozza and the Passo Rolle, with the option to go by ski bus.
