Valsugana Ecomuseum
A series of itineraries to explore the identity of the local area through family stories as well as through the tangible signs of the relationship between man and his territory.
The Valsugana Ecomuseum starts out from some springs in Rava al Brenta and extends over the municipalities of Bieno, Ivano Fracena, Ospedaletto, Samone, Scurelle, Spera, Strigno and Villa Agnedo, the gateway to the Lagorai mountain chain. Water provides the underlying theme in this extremely varied environment, with agriculture and traditional crafts on the valley floor, a band of woods covering the valley sides and mountain pastures dotted with traditional farmhouses higher up. The Castel Ivano manor house overlooks the entire area.
The Ecomuseum has developed a number of important projects, including a historic photograph archive, the Ecomuseum digital library, which contains texts on local history and culture, the "Piccola Scuola dei Saperi Popolari" a sort of folklore school housed in the old co-operative dairy (Antica Latteria Sociale) in Tomaselli, sacred buildings, and guides and guided tours available at all the churches in the ancient parish
