Museo Casa De Gasperi
Go on a journey through the private life of one of the leading players in Italian and European history
Opened in 2006 in the house where the Italian statesman Alcide De Gasperi was born, this museum showcases his work, experience, values and message.
The Italian Christian Democrat statesman Alcide De Gasperi’s experience, values and message are preserved for the benefit of subsequent generations in the Museo Casa De Gasperi. The little museum was opened in 2006 in the house where he was born and it bears witness to the ties between De Gasperi’s work, the Valsugana and the Pieve Tesino area.
The building itself provides ideal, concrete evidence of De Gasperi’s background and epitomizes the path he followed, starting out as a citizen of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and going on to become an Italian and European citizen. It intertwines his personal history with that of the political and institutional world. The museum is part of a network of Houses of the Founding Fathers of Europe, along with the Adenauer Haus, the Maison de Jean Monnet and the Maison de Robert Schuman. Together with 15 other sites in Europe, it has also been awarded the prestigious “European Heritage Label” by Brussels.
