River Sarca fluvial park

From the Adamello peaks to the olive groves of Lake Garda

A surprising voyage through natural diversity.

Adventure and picturesque landscapes between canyons, vertiginous cliffs, gentle hills and Mediterranean valleys: the Sarca river, divided between an Upper and a Lower course, crosses 20 protected areas of the River Park, in addition to sites of naturalistic interest, lakes, and tributaries.

With a basin of almost 1000 square kilometres, a length of 80 Km and a 1700 metre difference in altitude, the Sarca is the main tributary of Lake Garda. Through narrow canyons, vertiginous gorges and incredible biodiversity, its course is a breathtaking voyage from the conifer forests high in the mountains to the Mediterranean holly oak forests near Lake Toblino, towards the Mediterranean quiet of the waters of Lake Garda.

From the larch and fir forests of the Adamello Brenta Park to the olive groves of the Garda area, from the gentle hills of the Giudicarie valleys to the spectacular river amphitheatre of Comano, in the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and then down through the romantic atmospheres, holly oak forests and brooms of Valle dei Laghi, under the beautiful cliffs of Dro and Arco, finally reaching the oleanders of Lake Garda. The Sarca, the backbone of the River Park of the same name, crosses 20 protected areas - all very different from one another - revealing the extraordinary animal and vegetable wealth that its waters meet, dropping 1700 metres in altitude. Spectacular gorges, placid river environments, peat bogs, and lakes, lunar vistas, but also castles, ancient bridges and picturesque churches: an environment rich in nature, history and culture to be explored.
