Jacopeo d'Anaunia Path - VII stage
The seventh stage starts from Vigo di Ton and allows you to conclude the Jacopeo d'Anaunia Path by reaching the Sanctuary of San Romedio.
The last stage of our Path sees the arrival at the Sanctuary of San Romedio, the final objective. It is a pleasant walk of medium length, moderate gradients and fascinating landscapes on the lower Val di Non. We visit Castel Thun, a splendid mansion that gave birth to the powerful Thun family and at least ten bishops in Trentino and Austria. In Dardine we find the beautiful church of S.Marcello that preserves valuable medieval frescoes. Shortly afterwards we come to the Parish Church of Torra, in the square of which it is possible to admire the low and middle valley in which villages and castles stand out in a cultivated area setting. On the outskirts of Taio we find Castel Bregher. In Coredo, in the upper part of the village, stands Palazzo Nero, which was the seat of the bishop's jurisdiction and sadly famous for the witch trials of the seventeenth century. The Jacopeo Path that begins at the Basilica of the Holy Martyrs of Sanzeno, the main place of Christianity in our valley, has as its heart the Sanctuary of San Romedio, it the symbol of the life and experience of the pilgrim and hermit Romedio who, after renouncing worldly possessions, set off on the pilgramage to Rome ut was so enchanted by the harsh landscape of this valley, that he decided to remain and to devote the rest of his life entirely to God, to the good of the people and to an intimate contact with nature.
