Le Giare
Where gravel for the building sector was once collected
The restaurant ...
In Ladin - the local language of Val di Fassa- "le Giare" means "the gravel". The Crepaz family has decided to keep its name unaltered in memory of the area's origins. The restaurant has 180 covers in three rooms over two floors. The smallest room can seat 30 and is decorated with wood coffer ceilings. Its "musa" - an ancient heater made of a heat-dispersing material to warm up the room - completes the decorations. The other rooms in the restaurant have respectively 80 and 60 covers, and have been decorated in a rustic yet elegant style. The last of these was refurbished last summer, and boasts a large vaulted ceiling that brings to mind an old-fashioned stable. Furthermore, it overlooks the restaurant's red wines cellar.
The restaurateur...
Livio and Paolo are brothers. With the support of their parents, they opened "Le Giare" in 1993. Since then, they have made their restaurant - which is open all year around - a point of reference in Pozza di Fassa. The restaurant was born as a pizzeria, before expanding the array of dishes it served gradually, but constantly. The brothers' enthusiasm has always repaid them with great satisfaction. At Le Giare, the Crepaz brothers offer traditional regional menus with game and grilled meats, in addition to 60 different types of pizza. Their wine cellar is equally ample and contains more than 200 labels.
