The historical association “Sul fronte dei ricordi” (“On the front of war memories”) has built, in a characteristic environment called “Stala de la Nenola”, in the hamlet of Someda, an exhibition of relics discovered during the works to recover the Costabella, Monzoni and Cima Bocche front line.

On display at the exhibition are weapons, ammunition, uniforms and objects used in everyday life. However, the exhibit also illustrates the context of the small town of Moena, which was in direct contact with the front line for almost three years. Some typical elements of the front line have been reconstructed in the exhibition: a machine-gun nest, a trench and a soldiers’ dormitory.

Summer opening times: From July to mid-September, Wednesdays (10.00-12.30) and Fridays (17.00-19.00). For out-of-hours tours and in other periods (for groups of at least 10 people), you can contact the chairman of the association, Livio Defrancesco.

How to reach the exhibition: by car (there is a free parking space near the church of San Rocco) or on foot from the centre of the hamlet (in about 30 minutes).

In addition to the photographic exhibition, you can also visit – although only externally – the Forte di Someda (fort). Continue on foot along the Strada de Sèn Roch, which quickly leaves the hamlet. It runs along the rio San Pellegrino (stream) up to the fence of the building. The solidly built, quadrangular fort was erected by the Austro-Hungarian Engineer Corps in 1898. As it was considered unsuitable for war purposes, in 1915 it was converted into a military warehouse, while the weaponry (guns, howitzers and machine guns) was transferred to San Pellegrino. The paths leading to the remains of posts along the north-west wall, behind the fort, have also been restored.
