Museum of the Great War in Caoria
Traces and memories of the First World War in the Vanoi Valley
This small, well-kept museum is situated in the village centre of Caoria, in the Valle del Vanoi and is part of the Rete dei Musei della Grande Guerra in Trentino (Museum Network of the Great War in Trentino). Set up in 1991 by the Caoria Group of Italian Alpine Troops, the museum is open in summer and comprises important vestiges of the First World War. During a visit to the museum, you will have a close-up view of uniforms, personal objects of Italian and Austrian soldiers, as well as relics found on the Lagorai mountains, where bitter and tragic battles were fought. The many old photographs will also allow you to understand the difficult life conditions faced by soldiers for two long years on these impervious mountains.
The museum is open during the summer season, while in winter it organises guided tours, upon prior reservation, with a stop at the nearby military cemetery and the Pralongo defence barriers.
