Stenico
The noble past of the ancient town of Stenico is portrayed in the architecture of its palazzos and homes
Stenico is overlooked by the Dos della Forma and is located in a basin which opens out to the south towards the Gola del Sarca. This ancient village with its traditional dwellings and noble palazzos also boasts numerous fountains scattered throughout its many piazzas. Some archaeological finds in the area have led experts to believe that it was already inhabited in prehistoric times and other, Roman findings were also discovered in Calferi. However, Stenico's starring role on the historical stage came in the middle ages, when its castle became the residence of the Bishop-Prince Bernardo Clesio as well as that of the Episcopal captain of the Giudicarie and of his court for an extended period of time.
The Castle of Stenico is one of the seat of the Castello del Buonconsiglio Museum of Trento and often plays host to concerts and suggestive artistic and cultural activities.
It also contains a Park House of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, the Casa della flora and a visitor's centre, which is located in a building known as "il Bersaglio".
