The "Trodo dei Fiori" Botanical Pathway
The Trodo dei Fiori "path of flowers" wends its way through an area of great historical and natural beauty
With its 300 plus species of plant life, it is one of the most interesting tourist itineraries in the north-east of the Alps, affording spectacular vistas over the Lagorai and Marmolada mountain ranges, the Pale di San Martino, the Feltre mountain summits and closer to home, Monte Agaro and Monte Coppolo.
The Pathway has been divided into 10 sections starting from Passo Brocon (1616 m a.s.l.). Initially following old mule tracks dating back to World War I, it wends its way up Col del Boia to an altitude of 2050 m before descending again to Passo Brocon. Ten habitats can be identified over the route, each featuring a different type of Alpine flora. Special wooden panels have been installed featuring colour plates, which describe the distinguishing characteristics of each environment and the flowers that are found there.
The best time to visit the Trodo dei Fiori botanical pathway is the end of June and in July. It is the ideal destination for hikers and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Suitable mountain clothing is recommended, including hiking boots or ankle-high trainers. The entire route can be covered in three or four hours.
