Sover
Sover stretches over a terrace with a view of the Alta Val di Cembra
Sover is a wholesome, peaceful summer destination with open-wide views over an Alpine landscape overlooking the Western slope of Grano-facing Monte Frattoni. The long, narrow road crossing the town is bordered by a number of interesting rustic-noble houses, some of which feature facades decorated with religious frescoes. Roofs here are covered in yellow tiles and terracotta tablets baken in the furnaces of Molina di Fiemme, located just a few kilometres away. Handcrafted wooden goods are typical of this area, where the tradition has been handed down from generation to generation since the 12th century.
The parish church of S. Lorenzo - which can be traced back to 1537 - was refurbished in 1776 and 1882. It features three Baroque wood altars, including its major and especially noteworthy altar.
Of Sover's numerous outlying administrative districts, tourists are invited to visit Montesover, an Alpine hamlet on the outskirts of the woods, whose inhabitants are skilled in gathering and preserving mushrooms and raspberries; Piscine, a welcoming town located on a green terrace after Lavini di Croce, and the Valle del Rio delle Bore.
