Alpe Cimbra – Folgaria Lavarone, Luserna and Vigolana
A green plateau for trekking and relaxation in summer, Skitour dei Forti (ski-touring among the war forts) and snow-shoeing in winter
Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna are the main resorts in the Alpe Cimbra area, that boasts peaks over 2,000 metres as well as pastures, woods and crystal clear rivers. In winter the Skitour dei Forti, the ski circuit connecting Folgaria and Lavarone, unwinds over 70 km of slopes among the forts of the First World War.
The three communities of Alpe Cimbra have been handing down for centuries their unique heritage of traditions in the Alps. In Luserna for example the cimbro language, an ancient German form of speech, is still spoken today. Also defining the landscape are the remnants of the Great War of 1915-18, which left fortifications, trenches and stoned pathways as inheritance. Don’t miss out on a visit to Forte Belvedere.
The plateau is the perfect gym for those that love to do sport out in the open. There are many possibilities to go for walks or excursions, whether it be on foot, on horse-back or on a mountain bike. Competitive sport has its main moments with the great 100-km mountain bike race along the forts.
The skiing area is one of the most renowned in Trentino thanks to the quality of its 40 ski lifts, its environment and the beauty of its landscape. Upon arriving at the lifts’ uphill stations, and from the mountain huts, you can witness a 360° panorama which spans from the Brenta Dolomites to Pasubio, from Adamello to the Pale di San Martino. To cross country skiing enthusiasts, Alpe Cimbra offers two areas among the most highly rated in Trentino: the Centro del fondo di Passo Coe and the Centro del fondo Millegrobbe. Alpe Cimbra is also an ideal place for refreshing snowshoe strolls, even followed by a food stop in a welcoming mountain hut.
