Lavarone
Skiing among the fortresses of the Great War
Combine sport and fun with peace both in summer and in winter time.
Lavarone is a polycentric municipality, a group of small towns characterized by typical Trentino hospitality in the truest sense of the word. You can choose between sport and fun in Bertoldi, history in Cappella, entertainment and culture in Gionghi. The mild climate and well-kept natural surroundings are ideal elements for outdoor sporting activities.
Lavarone provides an awesome swimming lake, which belongs to Italy's five cleanest lakes, 52 walks of different lengths and trekking trails across World War I forts. A Nordic Walking Park with 17 trails of all difficulty levels was opened in 2006. In Lavarone you will also find a plenty of mountain biking and horse-riding tracks, with spectacular views of the Austro-Hungarian forts as well as children's outdoor play spaces, including Parco Palù, near Cappella.
Skiing is the main sport activity practised here in winter, and Lavarone is one of the privileged gateways to the 80 km ski-runs of the Skitour dei Forti network, although it features its own 20 km circuit at the Lavarone Ski Centre. All the skiing facilities can be accessed with the Skibus service.
A great attraction of this all-round resort is cross-country skiing. At only 12 km, you actually find the Millegrobbe, one of the most popular cross-country skiing centres of the region, which features 35 km trail and is part of the SuperNordicSkipass plan. A special link with the Veneto region close-by leads to the Campolongo cross-country skiing centre, while another one leads to the huge area of Vezzena
