Rovereto, City of Peace, is the capital city of Vallagarina. Many museums are established here, among which is the celebrated MART Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and the Museo Storico della Guerra (Historic War Museum).The city enjoys an artistic flair and a Venetian-style architecture, and offers highest quality cultural events all year round.
Vallagarina is a land of castles. Among the most beautiful in Trentino is Castel Beseno, over the Adige river, a good and proper fortified citadel, and the Castle of Sabbionara, near Avio. It is also a land that offers fine gastronomic productsand excellent wines, like the Marzemino, which you can try in local bars and restaurants, as well as in cellars and distilleries, that are dotted about everywhere.
There are numerous walking trails, for example the Sentiero della Pace (Path of Peace), and cycling paths, like the one along Val d’Adige, as well as many mountain bike trails.
In winter you can go skiing in the Polsa-San Valentino ski area atop the Altopiano di Brentonico. The slopes, all connected in a wide and varied ski carousel, are particularly suitable for learning how to ski. The ski area has also been equipped with as now park in Polsa and many trails for walking with ski poles.
