Bocenago
Bocenago in Rendena, midway between rural life at the bottom of the valley and the "VIP" mountain of Campiglio
Bocenago is located on the River Sarca, at the foot of the Monte Tof and is renowned for its traditional rustic homes typical of the Rendena area, adorned with portals, sacred pictures, murals and granite fountains. A number of refurbishing projects have been completed recently in town to help promote its history. Special mention goes to the Medieval parish church of S. Margherita and its lofty position overlooking the plains of Ischia del Sarca, from where the Val Rendena can be admired almost in its entirety.
Given its strategic position facing the Brenta Dolomites and the bike-path running at the bottom of the valley, the town is an ideal spot for mountain-bike riding in the summer as well as for walks and hikes - ranging from the easiest to the classic ones along the more traditional roads of the Brenta. Golf can also be enjoyed here at the Golf Club Rendena, which boasts a 25,000 m² green surrounded by breathtaking views. The skiing districts of Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio-Folgarida-Marilleva can all be easily reached from the town in winter.
One of the many interesting facts regarding this area is that the inhabitants of Bocenago were once known as either "bombarde" ["bombing"], because they used to shoot with their rifles during the town festival by amplifying shots with a megaphone-like device, or "bruzìn" for the melodious bell concerts that were often played there.
