Pinzolo
Hospitality and pristine nature
Pinzolo is a little gem in the Dolomites, to be found in Val Rendena, at the foot of the road that leads up to Madonna di Campiglion, in the heart of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park
Pinzolo is a true paradise for winter sports lovers and a wonderful family-friendly holiday destination in summer.
Pinzolo is an excellent starting point for many excursions to the granite massifs of Adamello, Presanella, the spectacular and unspoiled Val di Genova and the Brenta peaks. Pinzolo belongs to the Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta, the largest protected area in Trentino, an unspoiled natural oasis extremely rich in waters, flora and fauna. From an historical point of view, Pinzolo is renowned for having housed one of the first Compagnie dei Battuti in Trentino and for the ancient church of San Vigilio.
Built in 1362 and decorated by Simone Baschenis (“Trionfo della Morte” -triumph of death and respective “Danza Macabra” deserve a special mention), it is considered as this distinctive school’s “Sistine Chapel”. Interesting is that in 1969 a monument was erected at the entrance of the town to commemorate Pinzolo’s world-famous knife-grinders.
